Can I Have Sex While Using a Butt Plug?

Should I have sex while wearing a butt plug?

Yes! Definitely! If you've been using a butt plug and you haven't tried it while having sex, then you're missing out. It doesn't matter if you are a guy or a girl, sex while wearing a butt plug  can add a completely new dimension to your intimate time.

The next step: Roleplaying with your plugs.

One of the most common ways people use butt plugs in the bedroom is as part of a submissive/dominant role play scenario. This is where one partner will take on the role of a master, controlling the actions and pleasure of their submissive or slave. This kind of role play can incorporate all kinds of sex toys, from whips and gags to dildos and vibrators, but people especially like to use butt plugs (and not just in the bedroom). When one partner 'forces' the other to wear a plug, it can denote ownership. For the time that the plug is in, you belong to the other partner and will do anything they ask of you. As always with this kind of sex play, make sure you and your partner figure out a safe word ahead of time in case you need to stop for any reason.

As I covered in our article on tail butt plugs, this kind of role play can be extended to include more animalistic relationships, where one partner truly is the master. If this sounds like your kind of style, head over to our tails article for some extra info on things like pet play.

I don't want a master, so I shouldn't use a butt plug during sex?

Not necessarily. Even if you aren't planning on using a plug as part of a role-play scenario, having one in while doing the dirty can still give you an interesting new experience.

For guys, it’s all about that prostate. This is a walnut-sized gland inside your bottom. While its traditional function is to help protect your sperm, it has a nice little bonus of feeling very nice when pressed on or massaged. Sometimes this is done with a finger or two, simply insert and gently put pressure on the front of your anal passage (towards your belly button). The prostate is around two inches up your anus. You should know when you find it. With a plug, this is a million times easier. As you move around, the plug will naturally shift and massage the gland. You can even get specially designed plugs with curves to specifically stimulate the area.

That's great, but what good is it during sex?

Essentially, crazy orgasms. No really. It has been proven that men can have orgasms just from prostate stimulation. Not a traditional orgasm either. These are full body, shaking orgasms. Now if you can successfully stimulate your prostate while having sex, your penis will go rock hard. This tension can mean slightly larger erections, and a very explosive finish, both of which can be great for you and your partner.

One position I see talked about a lot is the guy with the butt plug in being sat on a chair. Their partner then sits on top and rides him. Each downward thrust pushes the plug that little bit deeper, making his penis throb and twitch with every thrust. It turns me on just thinking about it.

So, it's all about the guys?

Nope! Aside from the fact that while a guy is plugged and enjoying it, he will tend to really go for it while he's in bed with you, a woman can gain just as much benefit from using a butt plug in bed. While women don't have a prostate to massage, wearing a plug can make everything in the downstairs area feel that little bit tighter. This is due to increased pressure on the back walls of the vagina. So, when a guy (or girl) starts to put their penis (or strap on) inside, it tends to feel much nicer with the extra pressure. Not only that but feeling a plug in your anus, as well as your vagina, give you a true feeling of fullness and sensation. Your man will love it too. Not only from the extra tightness, the two of you can usually feel the plug and the penis touching on the inside. This gives you both a new sensation, with the guy feeling something else massaging his penis on the inside, and the woman feeling pressure on both sides of the vaginal wall.

Will any butt plug do?

Yes. However, you might need to do a little extra prep work. If you're moving around a lot while having sex, the base of the plug can chafe on your butt cheeks, so putting some extra lube on the base of the plug can help to deal with that. Even better, some butt plugs are designed with a special base. These look kind of like handlebars and nestle nicely between your butt cheeks leaving you free to do all the movement you like!

Don't just take my word for it!

If I haven't convinced you to try it yet, read or ask about other people’s experiences. Butt plugs really aren't as uncommon as people tend to think (and we should know, we sell them!) so ask some of your friends and they might have some great stories for you. Failing that, google is your friend. There are tons of sex bloggers out there, and their stories are sure to at least get you in the mood to try it.
